Simple question on my 1999 FRC M6 car. (65k miles): Where is the check valve for the fuel pressure located? Is that integrated into the fuel pump? Reason I ask is, after the car sits for about 9 hours during the day (not night strangely) and I go to start it it cranks over for 2 seconds or so before it fires up. I usually let the fuel pump prime itself with the key in Pos. 2, and let the gauges do the sweep - then start it, and lately it's been slow to fire up. Am I on the right track? Fuel: Mobil 1 93 currently w/techron in tank. Miles: 65k Sp plugs 20k miles ago, new wires, No PCM codes, fuel filter 5k ago.

HI there, Normally, your fuel pump prime will eliminate the problem, IF THERE IS ONE, with the fuel pump check valve in the tank. So now, what I would be looking for is the camshaft sensor or fuel quality as part of the issue. Allthebest, c4c5 |

thanks so much for your advice! Wouldn't I have a code set for a crankshaft sensor issue if the Crank sensor was going bad? And also, this afternoon, idling in traffic with the AC on, the thing almost stalled out on me! Just idling at 700 rpm and slowly started dropping down to 500 and WOULD have stalled if I didn't blip the gas... Strange. and still no pcm codes set..... It's done that to me once before - with the AC on..... ?!?

HI there, No, not crankshaft, CAMSHAFT. You see, in order to create sequential injection, it needs to know where the engine is at. It does this with the CAMSHAFT SENSOR. If it doesnt pick up the signal immediately, an extended crank could follow. Allthebest, c4c5 |
