| Maybe a month or less away till I see one in the flesh. Sucks that you can't get the direct injection motor with all wheel drive (if I've read everything right). Still going to be an amaing car though. Makes me wonder just how exactly they're going to be able to sell the STS now. |

| I just checked. You can order the 300hp DI motor and the AWD. In fact I'm thinking of just that and the 18 inch wheels too. Not sure about the high polished or painted version though. Your right about the STS...the STS is in trouble at 10 grand more and not as bold looking. The northstar v8 is really nuts because its only making about 20hp more than the V6 DI ... I see big discounts coming on the STS until its revamped. Nice car too but the CTS is the better looking imo |

| What maes it worse is that some of the features/gadgets that the STS had over the current CTS will now be on the new CTS. Like keyless access with remote start, AWD, touch screen display, and I even think the new CTS gets cooled seats. The only big things that seperate the STS are the Northstar (which yeah...it may not seem like much on paper, but it definitely gets that car moving faster) and they added a HUD option. But even a 3.6L STS with all options comes out to be in the mid $50k range. Compared to a fully loaded CTS with the same engine? Not even close. You could buy a CTS-V for that kind of money (when it actualy comes out). |

| The revamp of the STS replacement will have to be a larger more flamboant (sp) product. The new STS is a good vehicle. Product cycles being what they are one vehicle had to be replaced first..thats the CTS. The volume on the STS will shift to the V6 and the v8 will be discounted which it should be considering its only 20 ponies more than the V6. The northstars days are numbered and thats ok... GM has a much more powerful motor planned. I heard the northstar is a smooth powerplant though and thats worth a lot in the luxury field. |

But the Northstar does have its faults too. The very early ones were tougher, but after the mid 90's they liked to give up head gaskets and/or pull the head bolt threads out of the block. And they've always had oil leaks...which kind of suck when you lay down $70k for an XLR and find the oil pan covered in oil after only a couple years.

Just finished certification on the CTS. You sure can get the AWD with the direct injection motor. This is good. AWD is available only with the automatic transmission. Ehhh...would have been nice to have the option. 18" wheels and bigger brakes come with the FE2 and FE3 suspension. AWD is not available with the FE3 high performance load leveling suspension. So an AWD FE2 would be a great all around car.

| thanks Rob, I'm thinking the FE2 with AWD and all season radials along with the 6 speed paddle shift 300hp DI motor is the way to go.. I wish the showcars 19 inch rims and tires were available to order from the factory. The showcar was sweet! and I'm sure the 18's on the sport package will be good too... The cars for my wife and not replacing the Vette. |

| Thankfully my position alows me to have some extensive seat time with all the different configurations. If I got one of these, I'd most likely get rid of my Corvette for one. Would I really want to keep some of the handling feel of the 'Vette and get a RWD FE3 equipped CTS with a manual? Or go for something more for all season use. By the way...they're saying manual transmission cars are going to be super hard to find. Something like 2% of production. |
