All the advice I read helped me get to this point. I purchased a AC/Delco ignition set ( $88+tax, from local Corvette shop) and planning on getting NGK TR 55 GP's. I've got all the wires and plugs off & out. I marked all the wires. I haven't taken the wires off the dist. yet. The pass. side looks like it won't be to much trouble. But I can't follow the driver's side wires to the dist. People say to unbolt the power steering pump. I hate to admit this but I'm having trouble finding the PS pump. I see the alt and ac comp. but where is the PS pump? My Haynes manual doesn't even show it for a '96. Also because the old wires were cheap aftermarkets, taped and tied together and poorly routed, I need a little help. I see two looms on the drivers side and 3 on the pass. side, is that all of them? Does anyone have some pics. of the routing to the optispark?

HI there, First, use ACDelco spark plugs, NOT NGK, the electrode protrusion is different and will change performance. Then, reference the picture below. This is your wiring routing. Your powersteering is below your AC compressor. Allthebest, c4c5 |

Well we got #8 in. I say we because up to now this has been a one man show (of course with the help of this forum). I bought this car for my wife, so it was only right that we put her smaller hands and abilities to fit large things into small and tight places to work. But it was still a supreme PITA! I'll spare you the details but it was still about an hour until the plug was torqued and capped. Getting the plug wires routed to the opti on the pass side was nice and straight forward. Now I'm trying to route the plug wires on the drivers side. I worked at it for an hour or so but things were going down hill and it was time to stop for the night. It didn't help when one of my twin 16 year old boys called me at midnight to come pick them up because the Police had them on the side of the road. Only my kids are dumb enough to be up to no good in a parking lot being watched by a drug task force. But I digress, I've got the belt and tenisoner off as instructed. I also removed the MAF and attachments and the water hose just so I could see a little better. The hose was probably a mistake. It made a mess and the opti didn't need the water, although I don't think much got on it. Does anyone have a detailed account of how to move the power steering pump and anything else that needs to be moved? Pictures wouldn't hurt.

HI htere, Nope, my bad. Not really thinking too clearly, with Carlisle coming up. ![]() ![]() Sorry about the incorrect PS location. You will need a pulller to remove the pulley to remove the pump. If you can get the tools, normally, just the pulley will need to be removed. Allthebest, c4c5 |

The p/s puller kit is sold at HF & other stores for about 20 -70 bucks. Maybe you can borrow one or get a loaner from a parts store. Pull the wheel & I would suggest the pump also (4 or 5 bolts) Maybe leave the hoses attached & swing out of the way, maybe the hoses have to come off. It's been a while since I did mine. Make careful note where the wires are routed. It's easy to pinch them when you put stuff back together. Remove an idler or two for more space. May be easier to get at the driver side wires (at the opti) from underneath if you can get the car high enough. Keep at it, take breaks, It'll get there. Make sure the serp belt lines up on ALL pullies when you put it back. The p/s wheel needs to go back onto the shaft all the way. Take note how far onto the shaft it is b4 you pull it off. :) | ||||||||||||||||||||
