CM Windshield wippers overswing

I have a 93 coupe. The wipper blade on the driver's side over extends past the windshield and is marring the trim. When it is in the off position it rest down tight on the bracket under the w/s. Could it have slipped a cog or more likely could someone have put it on wrong? Are there other parts that wear out causing this?

HI there,
It would be suggested to look at the wiper motor transmission.
However, this is difficult to get to on C4.
Simply allow the wipers to move up 1/2 way then shut the key off.
See how much the wipers MOVE, and that is how much play is in the transmission.
Allthebest, c4c5
