The latest PCM update is calibrated to be used with the 41-985 Iridiums.

Factory plugs were Platinum, initially. I'm not sure when they switched to the Iridiums. Sometime around 2002-3 I would guess.

The Delcos are good. Many people like the NGK TR-55IX in the aftermarket.

HI there,
Yes, the Iridiums were engineered because they are less susceptible to erosion from fuel additives then platinum is.
TR55X carry a different electrode protrusion and should not be used. They change the spark propogation across the chamber.
Allthebest, c4c5

Have your local dealer (or any dealer) run your vin number. The print out will tell them if it has been done, along with all the latest recalls for your vehicle.

This is the first I've heard of a PCM update for changing plugs. Could this be a possible cause of pinging too? I'm using the 41-985 plugs already. Does anyone know what the update has included within? '99 Coupe
