| Wonder how serious this test is? Can you imagine smacking the tree-huggers with a 500HP "green" Vette? That may be worth the price of admission! 200MPH burning pig food! Power and ecology aren't mutually exclusive after all. Makes today's ugly eco-boxes appear more a fashion faux paus than necessary. On the downside... Keep in mind, E85 is still expensive and gives about 65-75% of the mileage of gasoline. Not so sure I'm hip to 12 miles a gallon @ $3.20 per! |

| The E85 portion of the equation is just one aspect. According to autoline detroit within five years the Cellose (sp) production of E85 will drive the cost from 2.50 a gallon that it is today to .60 cents per gallon. THe more exciting aspect of the direct injection is the 470hp possible from the ls3. (based off the cadillac 3.6 port injection 40hp gain when going direct injection) I see this motor as the base corvette motor producing 476hp in 2009 and having the Corvette SS at 650hp. I believe the Z06 will go on haitus at that point and possibly the body panels in composite fiberglass as opposed to carbon fiber being offered. Of course this is all conjecture on my part.. But thats the fun of these forums. To shoot the breeze. The motor portion of this story with direct injection is real. I'd have to say a base corvette in 2009 model year with 476hp sure sounds good! ;) |
