My 98 Vette is at the Chevy dealership and the center console is torn apart... I took it in because when I first turn on the A/C, the yellow A/C light flashes a few times and then stays off. The air conditioning compressor does not turn on 95% of the time. I would say that the yellow light stays on about 1 out of every 25 times i have the car running and then the air conditioning seems to blow ice cold. The dealership told me that the HVAC Heater Control Unit is bad and needs to be replaced... They checked the pressures in all of the A/C lines and they checked all of the electrical wiring and everything appears to be in working order... All of the repairs listed for the HVAC Heater Control Unit on this site state that the repairs will take car of a dim display or burnt out lights... My problem is that the HVAC system is not working properly even though all of the backlighting is fine and the display is as bright as can be... Does anyone know if replacing the HVAC Heater Control Unit will possibly repair my problem?? Lost in Confusion... -JPR |

HI there, Actually, Im not sure. See, the light will normally flash if there is a low freon condition. Now, if there were other codes in there that created an insufficient AC performance, then that is a different story. Honestly, lets wait to see what comes back, but based on the few things here, the control head is a definate possibility. Allthebest, c4c5 |
