CM MAF sensors

Guys,
Do you advise cleaning your MAF sensors? If so, what's the best product/method? I have heard q-tips to spray cleaners. My thoughts are that both would leave residue and should just replace it??

Thanks

I have cleaned mine with Brake Cleaner.

It dries quickly and leave no residue. I did have to scrape some dirt off the supports once though but that was the first time it was cleaned and I did not buy the car new.

Now go play with your tools!

Really though...???

The first time I did mine was probably the first time for the car. It was not caked with dirt but the screens had dirt for sure in the holes. I chaulked it up to the filter cannot trap 100% of the dirt coming into the engine, no filter can for that matter. Plus the MAF does got hot if I understand right thus the dirt can get somewhat baked on. I never had MAF code before or after the cleaning, just cleaned it because I wanted it to perform its best.

No?

HI there,
Cleaning MAFs have become necessary due to more contaminants in the air, including oil from aftermarket oiled air filters.
CRC 05110 MAF sensor cleaner is the prefered method, as it does not harm the sensitive electronics within the sensor.
Allthebest, c4c5
