CM C5 technical tire/wheel size question. XLR wheels on C5 hub?

Will 245/45 18 inch tires all around throw ABS codes or active handling codes on a C5

Will cadillac XLR wheels fit on C5...?

TIA

JB, IMHO you should get a beater for the commute and leave that Z in the garage. Local auction get a good clean 4x4 Jimmy/ escalade for cheap. Your car has too much power to handle crapo roads. I believe different dimension wheels will throw codes and effect stability control and abs. Suppose to be a nasty winter with lots of snow. Good luck my friend whatever shootin the breeze... I think I should take your advice and get a C6..

I am about to turn in my present daily driver a 2005 Town and Country.

I was debating of whether or not to just use my present Corvette as a daily driver.

Its in great shape. Its got over 50K miles of pleasure driving. I love the car....

Still its a 2001 model and only worth between 20 and 25 grand if that.

Do I really want to spend money on a daily driver meaning buy, insure (expensive in NJ) and repair just to protect this relatively undervalued yet great sports car?

I was looking at purchasing a beater but just can't wrap myself around the idea that I'm making the right decision.

I really don't want to fix or pay for repairs on some old car/suv just for the few snow storms we may have.

I also own a 2005 GMC Envoy that is very nice. My wife uses it and has told me that when ever I want to use it I'm welcome to it...

when it snows I pretty much over the years Never travelled out anyway. I just thought if I could buy a set of winter snow tires...I might have a better shot through it in case I did venture out and it snowed.

Last year I had the Vette out and it snowed...

These michelin pilot sports presently on my Z were like skating on ice last year compared to the stock Goodyears I had on my 1999 C5 which was much more capable. It was night and day in fact...LOL I was moving pretty slowly and the car really was skating on the road...It was pathetic...(nothing like my 99)

I guess your right about having another car but I just remember reading a lot of threads where guys say they use their car in winter weather every year...

Thanks

JB

Hey JB,
You can always mount snows on the Z.
Its not that hard to do and they are readily available.

Yeah those guys driving all winter are down south they aren't bucking snow and ice like we see here in the great northeast. Slide over a curb and your Z is done. It is too nice a car to have it wind up like that.. Beater.. cheap 4x4 with a great heater give to charity in the spring for the write off

I know you guys are making some good points..

I 'm not doing to much..

I just happen to see a set of XLR wheels with snow tires for cheap and wondered if the rims would fit properly on the C5...

Thanks guys..
