I took out the seat & looked at the area in question. I have the l/r recliner parts. This is to fix the seat back fall back problem. Mine falls back right side/intermittant/have done the tsb multi times, it really needs the part replaced. The parts are on the sides above the track & are covered by the leather seat cover & the foam. It looks like a pretty complete disassembly of the cover & foam is required to put the new part in. Has anyone had a seat apart that far? I heard some dealers just order the whole seat to save the labor? What should a whole driver side seat cost? Can you get at it by dropping off the track? Should I try this, or is it going to be a mess & the seat'll never look right? Thanks.

I have had the seat foam and leather off on three sides of my seat before. I bought a newer C5 set controls plastic and GM added a tab to keep it from falling and breaking off. At any rate I had to make a bracket so this new tab would fit thus why I had the foam and cover off. The cover and foam are held tightly in place around the seat frame by a string you pull tight and tie, like a pair of sweat pants which I never wear but you get the idea! : ) That is as far as "I" can tell you...

I unzipped the zipper & undid the plastic tabs bits (one on each side, bottom of seat back) & then ran out of time & got cold feet. I guess I'll talk to my SM first & see what he & gmpp will do. Or maybe just tear into it. I'm 99% sure the parts I have will fix the fall back. I want the seat to look good when I'm done & I'm not an upholstery guy. :)

No, actually you are correct, the part IS in the seat bottom. I just started with the back because I could see the zipper. Maybe I don't have to take apart the back for this. Anyone ever r&r this recliner part? :)

Had it done by my dealer & gmpp, about 1.5 hr & $100 parts. We'll see if it fixes the fall back. I can't think of anything else to repair it. It's just a very poor design to start with for a car that's meant to be launched hard & generate g force.

I think the issue that you all are speaking of is covered in a TSB. Check this one out: http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...ck+Recliner%29
