CM GAS TAXES, interesting

http://www.api.org/policy/tax/statee...2007_notes.pdf
This shows the actual taxes from state to state on each gallon of gasoline.
Adding in is the federal taxes as well.
If that doesnt shock you, consider how much the federal govt would lose if they STOPPED taxing us on the fuel????
Thats alot of money, and honestly, I think the gasoline companies are only PART of the energy cost issue.
Take a look and post your opinions.

I've always been amazed at how the politicians can point fingers and blame the oil companies profits for the high prices while they have their hands in our wallets and take out even more. Worse is that the media and public believe the politicians.

The oil companies are a very small part of the problem. This government site breaks down the prices a little more:
http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/oog/info/gdu/gasdiesel.asp

Note that the 8% currently going to the refiners is the gross cost and not the net profits (which are now around the average ~10% for corporations) the politicians complain about.

Of course, that's just the tip of the iceberg. We haven't built a refinery in the US since the mid-70s. We are importing gasoline instead. In 1995 Clinton vetoed drilling in ANWR, which would have added about 20%+ to domestic crude production today. All of the different regional gas blends add to the costs. Plus the ethanol mess that has added to food costs as well as fuel costs.

I fear that this is all just the beginning.... I miss the days of buying premium gas for 36 cents per gallon and not worrying about how much I drove..... Geez.....

If we think the USA is bad. Consider what europe taxes fuels..

Its crazy whats going on....

Exxon mobil is the most profitable of all fortune 500 companies..

Walmart, Exxon Mobil and now Chevron have surpassed GM in the fortune 500 list and conocophillips is right behind GM.

The rip off with regards to speculation is going to burst and when it does.. Watch out.

If you think our economy is in the dumper now...

that short lived bubble bursting will be heard around the world.
