Need Help. Drive shaft wear.

Question, I am having the clutch replaced in my 02 z06. They pulled the drive shaft out to inspect the shaft and seen the plastic ring on the drive shaft had some wear on it. They advised me to buy a new one. The dealer wants 750 for a new drive shaft. Can you tell me what the specs for a worn plastic piece should be. I guess what I am saying is what is the diameter of a new one so I can check mine. It is currently out until I found out what I am going to do. The car has 720 rwhp and was used for drag racing. The car is not used for that anymore and will not be driven with Mickey Thompson race slicks that would really put a strain on the drive line during launches. What to do. I wish I could find someone that had a OEM one in their garage that swapped for a Carbon Fiber one. Any answer or info would be a GREAT help.
