CM Good luck TheRobSJ :)

Not sure why your announce thread is locked, but the best of luck to you. Good people will always find a place to do good work as I am sure you will.

I wish my dealership would lay off a few "bubba's" that have wrenched on some of my cars (warranty/recall/etc.).

I have been terminated a few times & always managed to make "lemonade out of lemons".

Often it really is a blessing. Hang in and let us know where you end up.

Typical dealership world.

Acura would probably be a more solid environment, but you have to go with what you like the best. Good luck RobSJ, quality is always in demand, I'm sure you will do better some where else.

I stayed on my first job 21 years. Then the next 20 I changed 7 times. A couple of fired and the rest quits. Every time I found myself better off and higher on the ladder.

GOOD LUCK
Keep smiling

Yeah Rob that is really crappy what the GM dealer did to you!

Good luck with one of the two possibilities you have and I am sure things will fall into place for you!

Now go play with your tools!

Thanks everyone. This was the first union shop I've ever worked for. I would like for it to be the last. Not to sound arrogant, but I'm not the kind of person that needs the protection that a union gives you. If that shop were non-union I'd still be there. I'd be much happier not forking over $300 a month in dues and to cover myself on a required health insurance plan. I wouldn't be worried about being the low man on the senority totem pole. There are incompetant technicians there still that are protected because they have been there for a long long time. I wish they'd have just retired so we could have gotten some new blood in there. People who are actually willing to learn new things and aren't just milking it till they die.

Well, because of people like that I stand a chance of maybe getting into a GM dealer. Just last week I was sent to Los Angeles to finish out hybrid training. Why the dealer would spend the money for me to get trained, then lay me off the next week becuase they "need to stop the bleeding" is still making me laugh. Not that many GM techs have that training yet. So hopefully I can parlay that to my advantage.
