I hear a noise in the rear differential of my 1978 corvette. The noise is louder on the right rear passenger side than the left. The right rear drive shift appears to move slightly outward during revolutions. However the car moves fine and there is no hopping or grinding. Can this be a sign of a bad bearing or is it time to trash the differential?

Hi there, The key is to see WHERE the movement is. Although your wheel moves in and out, is the inner yoke at the differential moving or is it only the shaft itself???? This will tell you if the differential thrust washers inside are worn or not. Allthebest, c4c5 |
