| I was surfing around and found this post .To a cetain degree I agree with you .I write this as we are now bailing out the financial institutions and it burns my a-- big time and after the money starts to flow again what does AIG do, it takes all their nonperforming idiots on trips at our expense. This just goes to show the waste and disreguard big business , government , etc have for the people of this country[ ( If you live in Ma vote for the state income tax repeal send the message)] I am sick of everyone dipping into my pocket for a bailout ,I believe in darwins theory of survival of the fittest ,people would have to get the idea after a while even if it is the small guy or big business.Do not spend the money if you don't have it don't speculate at my expense ,run your house or business like I have to run mine or FAIL. No one has given me a hand out even when I could have used one when I was sick . I cannot wait to see what the new regime comming down the pike has up their sleeves more and more like socialist bulls--t every day sorry for the rant just sick of it Steve |

| Im right there with you. If you look at any objective review of problems per 100 vehicles produced, there is virtually no difference between the Big 3 and the imports. Toyota was taken OFF the Consumer Reports list of automatically recommended manufacturers. Nothing said about the sludge pot engines that they produced and subsequently hushed up the information on how many they have to warranty because of their own stupidity. Heres an idea. The next time you shop for a new car, take a look at HOW they are coddled by the government, and find an unbiased resource to obtain HONEST ratings of vehicles. Motor Trend, Automobile, Car and Drivers all have interests in advertising. JDPowers is somewhat accurate but even still, automakers use its awards also. And talk to the people on the front lines who fix the car you want to buy everyday. THEY CAN TELL YOU FACT about the troubles and positives about any car. TALK TO YOUR DEALERSHIP technician. | as much as i dont want to defend foreign car manufacturers i do have to say after owning different 91, 92, 94 and 07 toyotas, that i have never done a repair on any of them. oil changes and brake jobs up to 200,000 miles. i dont think the american car manufacturers can even come close to that in any way shape or form. i would love to drive any of my chevy's for 200,00 miles without doing a repair but i sincerely don't think that will ever happen. the one thing that the the foreign car manufacturers fail at and have never done is put in big engines and horsepower. never did never will. if your towing anything you are buying american. |

| I think alot of it is perception. People, for the most part, perceive that domestic built vehicles provide troublesome ownership. All manufacturers, foreign and domestic, have their share of problems. It doesnt matter if you pay $15,000 or 150,000, you will have issues. The key is that perception is because of the below par build quality of the 80s still hang with us today. Not a good combination. I can tell you first hand, there is alot to be said for quality today. You dont see foreign manufacturers warranty for powertrains exceeding 3/36, yet GM s not 5/100 and Chrysler gives lifetime to the original owner. That being said, I always tell my customers 1 thing. Drive it, talk to other owners, talk to the service technicians and then make an informed decision. Allthebest, c4c5 |
