CM maf update??

does anyone know if an 87 tpi can be updated to a speed density system like most gm's of that era ??

Hi there,
It requires modification to a 1990/91 TPI computer and wiring harness. NOT GOOD money wise.
Its not like the older 2.8 where it was pretty easy.
MAF is more accurate, what kind of problems are you having.

thanks for the quick reply!! Just the usual maf code.. I got the car over the weekend and getting some things fixed.
I remember back when i was in an independant shop doing speed density updates for maf issues.. been at ford for ten+ years now so havent been playin with gm's as much.. but I think the job security is better over here lol

HI there,
Im not so sure so far.
Anyway, biggest issues there were the MAF sensor power supply and burn off relays that would short out.
It would be suggested to replace those first and reevaluate B+ on the purple wire INTO the sensor.

cool thanks for the heads up!! I havent done any pinpoit tests yet or even busted out my meter. just got it into the garage and pulled the code and the wheels to give it a once over..

anything else really common I should be aware of or looking for??
