CM No Start after Clutch Master Work

I just replaced the clutch master and slave cylinders on an 85 C4. Car started fine and went for test drive, but clutch was still not functioning correctly. Barely got back home and parked car in garage, then left town for 2 weeks. Adjusted slave cylinder upon return, thinking that might be the problem, but when I tried to start for test drive, i get a no start/no crank situation though I have a fully charged battery and plenty of power in the vehicle. Obvious problem would seem to be the starter switch on the clutch peddle, but that seems to have continuity when the clutch is depressed. Could be that someone set off the alarm while I was gone for 2 weeks, and it is a VATS problem, but I don't know how to reset that or check if it is the culprit. Solenoid gets power if wired directly from positive terminal of the battery. Key/Ignition switch had been worked on by mechanic when I bought the vehicle, but was not done well - key could be removed and the car would start with no key in the ignition if not fully returned to off position -so I have now taken the steering wheel apart down to the ignition switch, looking for any sign of faulty wiring, but do not see anything ... but I am not good with a multi-meter.

QUESTION: Any ideas on how to tell if this is an ignition problem, a starter cutoff relay problem or a VATS problem?

HI there,
Sure, put a test light to the S terminal at the starter.
Have someone turn the key to start with the clutch pushed in, and see if the test light comes on.
If it does, you know your getting voltage, then you can test with a voltmeter to see how much.
Plus, GM never offered an adjustable master cylinder, so that could be suspect as well.
Allthebest, c4c5
