Question Starter Problem on my 82

I have a weird problem with my 82'. Sometimes it acts like my starter is bad or I have a very low battery. Let me explain. Occasionally, I will turn the starter to the start position and nothing happens. The lights on the dash get dim in the start position, just like a dead battery or a bad starter. Then I can go back in five or ten minutes and it will start just fine. I have replaced the starter, solenoid and the battery, still happens. It has been suggested that I use my volt meter on the solenoid terminal to make sure that I'm getting current to the solenoid from the ingition switch at these times. Is this a good idea? If so, which wire should I attach my volt meter to? Thanks for any help!

I would double check all your connections. At the battery cor corrosion at the frame for the ground make sure every thing is clean and tight . recheck the battery load test and the starter draw amps just because they are new does not mean they are good (been there and done that ) double check every thing before getting to crazy Steve

the last starter i had rebuilt tested fine on the bench but didn't work for nothing in the car. same symptoms you are having. after removing my started for the 4th time (which was really pissing me off) i took it to another shop and they found the problem in about 2 minutes. sounds like your new starter is bad to me.

Also, there is an electrical connnection on the passenger side of the engine compartment next to the evaporator box. If I remember correctly voltage for your starter solenoid flows thru this connection.
