CM Three 1983 Corvette's found! ????

I heard this story over the weekend and just searched the net and found nothing on it.

It all started when I have lunch with a freind who works at Delphi. He is endanger, among others of lossing his job... I was telling him how the Military has a proving ground in Yuma AZ and that is where the trucks I work on and with are tested.

He used to go to the GM AZ Proving Grounds a lot for Delphi, he then laughed and said that GM is moving their proving grounds to Uma as well!

Now here it the strange part. At our company X-mas party last night I told a good friend GM is moving their PG to Uma. Now this friend is a HUGE car guy and has GM contacts/friends like me, he is also not a BS'er, but what he told me could just be a rumor!

He told me did you hear as GM is moving and in preparation to move to Yuma, three 1983 Corvettes were found buried in the sand! I said what? You are kidding right? He said no!

That was all he heard and knew about it too.

So I seached Yahoo on articles today, but found none.

Anyone else hear about this find?

Wouldn't surprise me. A lot of cars were buried out there. But, they are probably being dug up and crushed as the land is being sold.

Talked to my friend today at work and apparently there is a lot of truth to this. I asked him who he heard this from and he said a friend at the GM AZ Proving Grounds.

Wonder if the cars will eventually show up at the museum?

I have family in and have been to AZ. The airplanes grave yards lined up along the roads are amazing to see. No humidity no rust. As far as you can see airplanes of every description just aging in the sun. You would think there would be a market for all that metal??
Why bury 83 corvettes? Did they bury 53's 63's 73's will they/did they bury 2003's? Az is a very affordable place to live. My brother bought a house there 2 years ago it is worth about 40% less than it was then, Just dont buy the farm

They buried cars (of all GM makes and models) instead of having to pay for them to be shredded or otherwise disposed of. Pretty common practice out there from what I heard. They're only being dug up because the property is being turned over to the developers.

Why bury 83 corvettes?
I have heard about those planes too Foot and I would like to see that. Got to be an amazing site. Tom Petty did a video I believe in a plane grave yard once.

And why 83's? Well you know the story about 83 Vette's, so that is probably part or most of the reason.
