CM Aftermarket Exhaust Systems

I want to install a new exhaust that 1) is louder than the stock exhaust and 2) provides at least some amount of performance increase. I would appreciate some opinions regarding the following questions:

1) Is it best to have a dealer install an aftermarket exhaust system or someone else?
2) I live in the DC area....does anyone know of mechanics in this area that specialize in performance upgrades for corvettes?
3) Which is the loudest, bordering on obnoxious exhaust system on the market today/
4) Which is the best overall system on the market today?

Any additional advice is appreciated. Thanks!!

HI there,
The truth is that NONE give real power increases, they are more for noise.
Have someone you TRUST install the system.
I personally like the Corvette Genuine Accessories BORLA designed system.
Better, but not alot of resonance.
Some also like the Magnaflow.
Allthebest, c4c5

Try Tony's Corvette Shop in Gaithersburg, MD. They do world class restorations, all performance mods, including exhaust, all maintainance, and full service dyno tuning. They've done all the work on my Corvettes over the years and do an outstanding job.

The Borla XR-1 is probably the loudest I've heard.

I'd go with Corsa, a top quality system that will give you everything you want and no resonance. I have it on my Z06 and i love it.

I agree. I have a 2007 A6 convertible with the Corsa Sport. It is just right and absolutely no drone. I had a Borla on a 2006 A6 coupe and the drone was so bad the exhaust was off within a week. No way I would recommend Borla if you have a automatic.

fact is, he wants obnoxiously loud and no aftermarket exhaust is going to give it to him. i'd take the mufflers completely off and just put regular exhaust pipe in their place. and, it still wont be anywhere near as loud as a sidepipe car would be due to the cats staying on it. removing them will cause heartache. go big or go home. thats the way to do it. and its cheap. my 74 has a full exhaust exiting out the back made of nothing but pipe and it isn't even half as loud as a sidepipe car. which is what i would consider bordering on obnoxious.

I just have to remind you guys that this site costs money to provide.. we are at risk of losing the valauble information and substantial resource the techs provide.. this is not dealer or vendor supported. If you like the factual accurate diagnostics that are a key board away you need to feed the PIG.. please and Thank you!
I have the manuals and have lots of corvette miles on my ass but it sure is better to ask someone that is a pro and knows the car(world class certified technicians and as friendly and helpful as you could want) than to thumb through three volumes of pages and trial and error a repair. You could post up on a freebie forum and get completely inaccurate guesses as to the origin of your corvette's problem...Now would be a great time to express your appreciation.. Happy Holidays
