CM Detune a 85. Yes detune

I am thinking of getting an 85 for my little girl. searching the internet i can find 10,000 way to make it faster and better. I am looking to slow it down. Has anyone seen a way to suck the power and increase the mpg? I would love her to have a cool car, she has earned it! But i dont want to kill her with all the power.

Thanks

Sure, put a throttle stop on it. Limit the throttle to 60%. I'll bet she won't even notice.

Look for an auto with 2:73 gears and she'll get passed by kids on skateboards.

HI there,
You have a few things that you can do.
Install a restrictor plate on the throttle body, install a prom from an 85 Camaro, but honestly, I would suggest a driving course at a race track that teaches safe driving techniques.
There are a few around the country and are very much tuned to teenagers.
Safe driving techniques in the environment of a race track isnt about speed, its about handling a vehicle when the unexpected happens.
You do not list where you are located, but that would be my suggestion, because shes earned it would suggest that she is a responsible teen.
http://www.teendriving.ca/ is one such school.
Allthebest, c4c5

Wow, very nice of you! Cool dad!

You can also put an even more restrictive exhaust on it. The throttle stop seems to be the best, easiest and cheapest to do though. You could even do it inside the car and at the gas pedal.

Make sure to show her how low the front of the car is too so she does not pull up close to parking blocks or curbs and smash it in!

Now go play with your tools!

the 85 corvette is only a 230hp car. how much lower do you want to take it? if you put on a restrictor plate she'll be getting passed by grandmas driving oldsmobuicks.

CM Fast car = Death wish for young drivers

I got my son an older Volvo to learn on. Later, I got him a college-grad-gift BMW + a driving school, but he was in his 20's. The Volvo got the dents and one ticket, even with this quiet-type kid.

I see what the teen girl across the street does to their mustang and all the news pieces about kids dying in their new hot machines, PLUS I know how I was! I also lost some classmates in speeding crashes.

When I explained it all to my son, he understood and agreed.... even if it was some years later.

Another thought is her boy friends driving it!
