If everyone doesn't realize the importance of this site and donate, it will disappear. Chick and C4C5 spend their own time and money to help us. Covering the operating expenses is the least we can do.

i said before that if we even made it to the 1/2 way point i'de throw in another 20. but i think its time to step back and look at the cold hard facts. at 32% and already into january this just isn't going to happen. hell, if we all (the people who have already donated) even through in another 20 we still wouldn't even be close. i think its time to start exploring some other options. this just isn't working.

I think a mailer should go out to all members from this site suggesting they donate a few bucks if they like.

This is more of a site that people run to when they have an issue which is why I think the emailer might be a good way to go...

i think thats a great idea jb. a mass emailer would hit all the members who dont log on regularly. i would be interested to get chick and c4c5's opinion on that to see how they felt. i dont think it's anyones style on here to ask for $$$ but at this point i'de say try it. its go time and we are way behind.

I will consider emailing all members, many are one time posters looking for help never to return unfortunately (the thought makes me cringe though) please again those who have donated do not keep donating, you have done enough.

The worse case will be to shut off new membership to a once per year fee. Current donating members will of course have cart blanc and remain. We will not close to our faithful members instead we will put the burden on non-donating members and any new members.

There is no way we will allow this site to be slammed with advertising.

Please give it some thought as I beleive there are many members who appreciate this site that tend to visit when they have a specific technical question. They may not visit everyday or even every week just by the technical nature of this site.

They might appreciate being informed that we are notifying them of the ability to chip in a few bucks to support this site.

HI there,
I dont think alot of people realize how this site was started.
Chick asked me if I felt like advising on a site strictly for people to get honest, straight advice.
We met on the CAC, she started this site, she paid for it, and I used my big mouth to help.
We do this because we want to, BUT, a value MUST be put on it because she should not have to foot the bill.
And for many years, before 2008, SHE DID all by herself.
She paid for it all, she updated it, she did it ALL.
While I would hate to see this site close, I completely agree that the $1000s of dollars we have saved the membership over the years is worth at least having the membership donate for the expenses.
We all see plenty of posts, telling about how they post on other sites, never get real answers and they were refered here. WHY?
Thats because this is the BEST Corvette technical website ANYWHERE. We are not the flashiest, the funnest or anything else, JUST THE BEST!
I, personally, put my name here as MY SITE because I am proud to be a part of it.

I agree with Paul this site was started quite awhile ago I was also a member from the start..Have not always been Chevy tech but always a G.M. tech ( 35 years) with probably 25 years of some sort of corvette experience (mostly older )only been with chevy 3 years so really can't hold a candle to Paul with the new models but still plenty of reliable information to offer.Chick for the most part has paid for the site , for the info available it would be a small price to pay for the lurkers and single time posters to step up to the plate for a small fee. Heck I belonged to N.C.R.S. since 84 was late on my dues and cannot get into the their site and only late by days now that is strict no free onfo there for freeloaders Steve
