New idea for funding the forum

Many have donated many have not, so maybe we need a plan "B"

Most of us work on our cars and need tools.

How about this? We pick several nice tools, 1st prize, 2nd prize, third etc.

We buy online raffle tickets, money goes to Paul or Denise to pay for the tools.

We trust Paul/Denise to pull 3 names out of a virtual hat for the winners.

You can buy as many tickets as you want say 10 bucks a ticket so buy 1 ticket or 10 or whatever.

Maybe we get $2,000. in the raffle. Spend $1,000. on tools the rest for the site.

Groups are always auctioning off restored Corvettes or rebuilt ones, maybe this can work for us on a smaller scale.

What do you guys/gals think?

This is a nice idea to keep in mind. I have a lottery script I can install, that way users will pic their own numbers for the pool.

I will keep this in mind.

I have just extended the time frame to February 15th, 2009.

Also I had posted elsewhere if we don't hit the goal, we will just close the board to new members and non-donating members will be outcast until they pay a fee of let's say $5 for 1 year. Something like this?

I don't see anything wrong with that. If we can't support the site voluntarily, then membership fees would be the most fair way to go.

I am also good with that, but I think maybe we need to keep the board growing by adding new members one way or another. Maybe your 1st post is free & then must "join" for $5.00 to post follow up questions.

That does sound like a good idea it tosses the carrot out here and if you want to get the carrot step up to the plate . There are way to many people seeking top shelf info for the freebie and you never see them again till more free info is needed Steve

You know, some of the Vette vendors give local clubs goodies for grab bags, prizes, etc. Maybe one or more would cough up some stuff? Have a little garage sale?

I know the rule here on advertising, but not even PBS seems to have trouble with companies donating stuff for their auctions.

I think it would be hard to accept things from vendors, without compromising what they want the site to be.

How about the 20 members that donated so far come up with the rest of the money that Chick is out??? It's worth it !!! I figure 30 bucks each...It isnt right that the provider also pays. I am ready with mine $30 each and we can meet C4-C5 at Carlisle and buy him a coffee while we are wearing our T shirts.. Come on the recession will only go away if you spend..
