CM 08 A6 Trans shifter

For some time it had been difficult to shift out of Drive. The other day after forcing it out of Drive, the lever would only go into Neutral or Drive. It is in the dealer waiting repair. Has this been a problem for others? This is the second major problem. At 1000 miles a Head was replaced due to a faulty valve guide.

HI there,
There are no documents on this condition.
But why would you have to force it out of DRIVE???
A more detailed explaination would help us.

CM 08 A6 shifter

Thanks for the response. Clairification! It was difficult to shift out of Park. Then after forcing it out, it would only go into Drive and Neutral. It could not be put in any other gear no matter how I tried to force it. In drive the car shifted automatically thru the gears.

HI there,
It sounds like you lost the BTSI solenoid and when it was forced past, it broke it.
Not a major repair.
