Question NAV program

Installed gm factory nav system in my 06 and had anti theft unlocked by dealer. Not all features work as they are designed. Tech says he cannot read the nav system. How could he unlock and setup if he cannot read it? What can be done to make the system function as designed. Several areas are grayed out on the screen when up and running; including directions and turns, also does not show in HUD. Any help would be appreciated Thanks in advance for your consideration

HI there,
The HUD is probably not looking for the NAV information.
As for the rest, you have to be more specific as to what was installed.
Is the actual GPS antenna installed?
That would be the first question I would have.
If all they did was install the head unit, there could be other things missing, as we do NOT know what other options your vehicle was equipped with.

GM Denso nav unit installed with GM antenna. The actual nav works as far as location and destinations. The unit grays out the directions, recalculation when off course. everything else seems to operate as per design. Car does not have Bose but wiring schematics show this has no effect on the nav except for the ability to reprogram on the fly. Car was originally a 1LT vert 06. Can the tech reprogram unit for my computer to see since this sis not a factory installed option? If the unit functions, I do not understand why all features are not functional. Running nav disk 4.0 which is only POI, maps, etc and not the operating software.
Thanks

HI there,
Im not sure what unit you used.
GM offers the entire kit through GMSPO accessories catalog.
PN 19159580 will be the one that you would have needed.
Is that what you had installed?

HI there,
Interesting, that would mean that the GPS antenna wasnt installed.
That would explain the grey when compensating.
Although, I would still be concerned about the programming of the IPC/HUD.
All you need is the MAP disc, everything else is internal within the unit.

Question

I was misunderstood. The GM Nav antenna is installed. AS you state the unit works internally. Once the nav disk is in it should function with all features. It does not recalculate route when off course, route directions are not displayed when traveling.
Thanks

CM c6 2007 corvette coupe/navigation problem

when i punch in an address it takes me close to destination, but not exact... then says i have arrived when i am still a block or so away.. when i punch in my home address it changes my address when i say go home .. to a place down the street..
I have a navigation in my honda 05 accord.. which takes me exactly to where i want. and i have no problems when i say go home. is there a way to make the navigation in my corvette more accurate ?

HI there,
The first thing you want to do is to make sure its set up correctly.
Ironically, Honda and GM navigations systems are both made by Nippon Seiki.
That being said you might try a setup.
If you look in your navigations owners manual, you will see the description and picture below.
Follow the instructions in the manual for calibration, prior to doing anything else.
See how it acts afterwards.
