CM Grundy Car Insurance

I know it is auto related but it did not fit in any other spot.

Anyone here use Grundy Collector Car Insurance?

I am thinking about switching mine to it.

Now go play with your tools!

I am in the process of getting quotes with the same coverages from Grundy. Their initial quote was less than half of what I pay now, but I want to make sure the coverage and use of car are the same as my existing policy. If it is, then I would say it is a heck of a deal.

Yeah, I think you should be good to go!

I tried Haggerty, who would've insured it but when they asked if I drive it to work and I said yes, they said oh, we can't cover you then. This insurance is only for the occasional drive/driver!

Anyway, Grundy does not have that or mileage limitations like you know LLC5. I just went to their site and insurance for a full year is $150 less then what I am paying now for 6 months.

Now go play with your tools!

Yeah, it's almost too good to be true, thats why I am asking a lot of questions to see if the coverage really is the same as my present coverage. If it is I will be kicking myslef for not doing it sooner. I wish they would cover my two other vehicles, but I will take what I can get.

CM I'll NEVER recommend Haggery

I got a quote from them. I told them I wasn't sure when my last ticket was, but was approximate in my answer to them. I spoke with them on the phone and asked them to please verify my infraction date with the state (they're in MI too). They agreed and I paid.

Six months later, I got bumped at a cruise. Called Haggerty. They refused my claim because I had "falsified" my application by not putting the exact date. They also denied "my file" had any request from me to check my record as I stated, and basically called me a liar.

All they did was refund my premium, so BEWARE!!!!

PS, The happy ending was I filed a big complaint with the state (again, we're both in MI) and they had some 'splainig to do. They didn't get in a ton of trouble, from what i can see, but they're on the insurance commission's radar now.

And I dog them wherever I have the chance, like now.

That stinks Chuck, almost as if Haggerty wanted it to go that way!

CM Grundy Insurance

I do not have it on my Vette. I have an 71 Monte Carlo. I purchased Grundy Car Ins. so I could drive her and not pay commercial rates 100.00 per year. It is not the coverage for use as a daily driver.
Must have a DD for work. Restrictions are no driving to work, racing etc. No mileage limits, mainly for fun, parades.

What's Grundy's policy on locking garage or "out of sight" parking?

Some actually have the parking thing in the fine print and they all seem to insist on the garage. In the summer, mine's in a carport.

And yeah Tool Guy, it did stink. What makes me wonder is how long they would have let me think I had coverage. Luckily, the damage was under Michigan's Mini-tort statute (>$500), so the other driver actually paid, though we're a no-fault state.

Guess better to find out then than after ten years and a major collision or theft! Guess I experienced that so you could all hear that HAGGERTY INSURANCE SUCKS!

Gawd, it feel so good to type that!

I had grundy but there must have been a little shakeup there ,I ended up insured with a differnt company . I do not know if he was an owner or part principle or what but he left grundy and is with this other place not sure if it is a new start up or what I will find out the name if interested.I called grundy when this happened and they were very curt and noncommittal about the whole episode and did not seem to care if I stayed with them or not (at least 15 years no claims) so I said AMF to you Steve

My uncle got something through a national Vette club. He swears by it, but then again, he's a cheap SOB and drives the car maybe 150 miles a year.

I can get the name, but expect someone can make sense of my gibberish and post an answer first.

PS Just found out about my Big Fat Redneck Wedding. I know, I'm slow. Anyway, I almost wet myself laughing. I recommend it. Lots of car stuff. They make Red Green look like Stephen Hawking.

Wonder if they'll do a ghetto version too? I still love the ghetto Whopper commercial outakes on YouTube.
