Just got this thing yesterday. Since I took delivery the following things have been unearthed. First, it has a junkyard motor in it, the casting numbers on the heads reflect it was a 98-00 engine, as well as the intake manifold part number. Plus the big 203 written in white sharpie on the intake makes me believe it is a junker motor. 2nd, the trans shifts EXTREMELY hard from first to second. Hard enough to snap your neck. 3rd, while driving today I get codes P1870, and C2100 from the vette. I did a reset and code P1870 has not returned as of yet, but C2100 is still there. 4th, the oil pressure on the dash is now staying pegged, and the in dash system shows it at a constant 130 lbs. This car is definately not what it was represented to me to be. I purchased from texas auto in houston, tx. The contract has been signed and the car is delivered, however, at this point, mechanically it appears to be in bad condition. I was told nothing of these problems, and they really did misrepresent the car to me in almost every aspect. Cosmetically is has many more imperfections than I was told, and mechanically all the problems above are listed, and I was told it was in perfect running condition. Where I am at right now is calling monday and attempting to cancel the contract due to gross misrepresentation of the vehicle. However, the car was sold as is, so I am not sure how well this is going to go over. But this is not a 19k vehicle, not in the least. So this may turn into a live and learn ordeal, or I may just lose out on shipping costs.

02, I did a quick search on Texas Motors in Houston. While I'm sorry you're experiencing these issues perhaps you should have done your homework. The Better Business Bureau in Houston has given this outfit an 'unsatisfactory' rating. Jim

Hi there, From my other post, you are also looking at a major transmission issue. The p1870 is an internal transmission fault. That will require major work. The engine is definately from a Camaro or something with EGR because Corvette never had EGR in the c5. Please keep us posted, c4c5 |

"As is" one thing, but I'd consult with an attorney about outright fraud by conversion. If you can prove deception, you may have something. Just reminds us all to have these things evaluated a a good Chevy where they can do some research.

I was mistaken about the EGR valve. I thought it was a different thing on the vette. It definately does not have an EGR valve. However the casting numbers on the heads and intake are definately for an 98-00 ls1, not a 2002 like I said. They have offered to fix the defects with the vehicle, just not sure if I should let them get the defects fixed, or if I should just attempt to get out of the deal. The car IS nice, and I do like it other than all of these defects.

Get out of the deal if you can, it sounds like you already don't trust them, how could you ever trust them to repair any of the problems properly, plus why would you want a car with all those problems? Try and return it and get your money back, there are plenty of other cars out there that are OEM original without any issues.

DON'T TRUST CAR FAX!!! Car Fax is still under a class action suit for promising more than they deliver(i.e. "lying"). They only check certain databases. I know my car has had body work--I paid for it! and Car Fax came out clean. On my Jag, the dealer told me the previous owner had done $6k damage to the front clip: Car Fax--clean. That's not even close to right and my $25 was wasted. Their weak explanation? they don't subscribe to all the databases in Michigan. Gee, that differs from their ads. Again, the Chevy dealer is the best place. If you're lucky, like I was on the Jag, you'll find the dealer who orginally sold the car and did all the work in question.
