What is the best way to remove the headlight motors? I have the passenger side that is really slow and sticky. The driver side will go up but is also running slow. Could it be the swith? I rebuilt it twice using JB weld to build up the plastic on the rocker that was worn out.

I've had the motors out of my 63 and its not difficult....but its been a while. Disconect the wires and remove motor and drive (gear box) as a unit. When on a bench its easy to access the gears. Typically the grease gets old and sticky or is non-existant. Clean gears and inside of housing then relube with white lythium (my preference) or moly. I would not use a heavy wheel bearing type grease. Check all electrical connections for corrosion and clean. Place a SMALL amount of di-electric grease on plugs and check for good grounds. If the motors are running and not making noise...they should be fine. Your issues are in the gear boxes. | ||||||||||||||||||||
