Please remember those who gave their lives for the freedom we were born to. I grew up looking up to the WWII and Viet Nam veterans(two older brothers) and others that I knew. It is a long story. But, I spent a lot of time in a bar when I was a kid. Sometimes those old boys would sit all day and tell their stories. They talked about buddies that didn't make it and how they passed. I listened to these men...my heroes at the time. They would explain very simply to you that the real heroes are the ones that didn't come back. And they wouldn't talk to just anybody about what they did. Or, what they had seen. I know these old boys were heroes too. A kid doesn't belong in a bar. But, those old boys looked out for me. Some big stranger came in one day, decided he didn't like me and threatened my well being. These guys shut him down really quick. I know that I'm rambling. This Post is a chance to say I remember. And to honor my Heroes' Heroes.

ABSOLUTELY!!! I like to look at it like this. Can any of us REALLY know what our service men and women have been through, unless we went through it ourselves???? The truth is, my life is a very easy life in comparison to what these fine men and women have been through. I only wish I had taken that opportunity to serve in the armed forces when I could have. In a world where the term 'heroes' is thrown around constantly, these men and women put their lives on the line EVERY SINGLE DAY THAT THEY SERVE. THAT MUST BE REMEMBERED. |

I jsut saw this post but my thoughts are... I fly my flag as much as I can. I also carry a folded flag in my wallet since I was born on flag day. I have and wear when I can, my grandafathers repo bomber jacket that his kids bought him years ago. My grandmother gave it to me when he passed. He flew 50 missions in his P-51 Mustang named MaryAnne and then came home. The planes name came from his mothers first name and my grandmothers first. I just cannot imagine anyone doing this! He was 18 and by himself, figthing in the European skys. These guys were tough as nails, but gentlemen as we knew them. Not sure what happened to MaryAnne after that, probably sold and put back in the skys by another country. I am very honered now and it is funny how these things come by in life, to be working with military vehicles that help save our solders lives to this day. I almost get to tears just hearting the solders stories when they say "that truck saved my life!" They want to buy me the beer and I say no, I am buying you the beer. | ||||||||||||||||||||
