CM 2008 ECM software update?

My 2008 6sp. manual coupe had an ECM software update while it was in for some warranty work, which included a rough idle issue. After GM installed the ECM software update, the throttle response between 2000 - 3500 rpm felt less responsive. I asked to reinstall the original software program that came with the car, but they could not do it. Is it possible for GM to reflash to the original program? Could the update have incorrectly installed?

Thanks for any input!

HI there,
No, the update is a reflash and cannot be installed incorrectly.
No, they cannot flash to an older calibration.
No, you are not down on power, this is a change in the abruptness of power.

Which is a nice way of saying the flash has changed your torque management and the dynamics of the car. Not so good for you IMO and better for for fewer GM warranty claims. This happened to me once on a Turbo Diesel and really pissed me off. Warranty replaced a lift pump which supposedly required a remap as well. Took all the snap, sizzle and pop out of the truck to the point I likely would have not bought it in the first place. Amazing how the MFG's get away with this.

Really? Gm did a remap of the computer to slow the cars down?

that sounds kind of bizare.

I have I believe all the updates on the pcm and didn 't notice the car was any slower.

Maybe by cutting down the abruptness of power between 2000 rpms and 3500rpms ....the car actually accelerates faster? (by keeping the tires in contact with the road more often) ?

Based on what I'm reading here IMO I think the software update altered the TM enough to the point where it feels much different (not as crisp) as it did before and was done intentionally. This reduces wear and tear on the drive line during times of spirited driving and henceforth reduces the chances of warranty related claims on such.

Maybe what I should be asking is: Does anyone have an 08 ECM program from a Dec. 07 build and compared it to the 08 ECM software update program? My understanding the differences were enhanced diagnostic tables. I hoping that was all!

HI there,
According to my data, thats all there was. And it was for 13 diagnostic codes per EPA guidelines.

My understanding the differences were enhanced diagnostic tables

Normally, if TM was being changed, they note it on the confirmation printout.
