Personally, I prefer all the weeknights before for that real feel of what cruising was like. Tonight was no exception, except on the way home, on Telegraph RD in Detroit (read: no police at all), a kid in a 2009 Bullitt Mustang wanted to play. He revved his motor and told me all about the "secret parts" he had. We had a mile-plus of open four-lane and not a soul around. Well, one of his "secret parts" must have been a boat anchor, because I wasted him from a stop, from a roll, and on quick 2-3 shifts. Pretty bad too. His explanation "Well that's a Vette", to which I responded "Bone stock and 25 years old with a 3.07 gear to your 3.73. Think something's wrong with your car". Of course that's not all true (only the gearing is), but he needed a lesson and tearing into his car looking for the problem will teach it

Excellent post Chuck! I did not make it to Woodward this year. Too many things going on. I heard one night during the week there were maybe 200 Vettes out, part of a car club, man I wish I was there for that one! The first year I had my Vette I too got into it with another Vette, a 2001 automatic. Spanked him twice too. We also did like 100 mph under the 696 bridge. Yeah not smart, but we did it...

It was actually many clubs. Mine was involved (Huron Valley Corvette Club). I couldn't make it, but everyone had fun I'm told. That's a scary spot. We ran from 8 Mile to 5 Mile. Redford actually has cops and they're aggressive, so no racing south of 5 Mile!
