CM front SIR sensors 1990 vette

Is there any danger in setting off the airbag if I try to clean these sensors to attempt to get the infl rest light to go off in my 90?

HI there,
No, just remember, disconnect your negative battery for 15 mins prior to it.
Then, remove, clean and lubricate with a little dieelectric grease.

Do I need to sand the metal in the little hole in the insulator in the picture or just the ears where the bolts go?

HI there,

Normally, I will sand both tabs and also the contacts at the frame. I will use Scotchbrite pads on the bolt heads themselves.

ALSO< DO NOT REUSE THE STAR WASHERS.

We have had issues with them and GM NO LONGER recommends them.

Make sure your torque on the fasteners is correct.

ARRRGH! I knew that I should not have put it back together...lol. What should I use in place of the Star washers?
In your experience will I need to clean up the W/W side also?
I have not replaced the battery yet so I don't know if this side did the trick..

Hi there,

You only use the bolts themselves, that is all, no washers.

Also, just clean the bolts and the tabs, you should be just fine.
