Paul, Thanks for the C6 seminar at Carlisle. It was very infomative. Now the problem. On the way back from Carlisle in my friends 05 MN6 Vette we hit heavy rains and massive flooding. After going thru one large flooded area the car developed an intermitten surging problem. The rear of the car is covered with black soot. On heavy acceleration it blows black smoke (or soot). At time the car makes power but under load it bucks and surges. Idle is ok. Some backfire on dexcel. We made it home to NY some 250 miles. The car has mods, Procharger, headers with high flow cats,Corsa sports and of course, a tune. He intends to bring it to a Vette mechanic on Tuesday. Any idea of whats the problem? After a fix, are the high flow cats toast? You expert opinion would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Regards, Al

HI there, There must be water contamination. The key is to determine where. As Norty surmised, its possible the MAF created an issue, but I would inspect EVERY SINGLE part. MAF, airfilter, wires, plugs and the like. Also, check the PCM and connectors for water intrusion. Allthebest, c4c5 |

Turned out to be a faulty O2 sensor. All the left bank plugs were fouled. All 8 plugs were changed, new O2 installed. retuned the car. About $400. Seemed reasonable and the car was turned around on the same day. I changed the oil and filter. There was only 1200 miles on the oil and it looked like black ink! The car now runs perfect. Could have been a lot worst.
