OK, yet another problem. When driving down the road, either under hard acceleration or just cruising, the engine will suddenly die. It will turn over and crank but will not start. If I leave alone for a few minutes (5 mins maximum) the engine will start just fine. There is slight miss that I cannot find too. recently I changed out the ignition switch (the down down on the sterring column) and the transmission nuetral switch. Today I changed out the coil and the ingition module, the one just above the coil. The car ran fine, then about 4 miles from the house it quit again. I also had the wire harness melt the BLK/WHT wire that goes to the nuetral switch. I cut out the burned wire and replaced it. After this is when the problem got to this point. Now I am getting a code C41 in addition to the ones above. The book says the is the Electronic Spark Control Module, if this is another name for the coil driver that sits just above the coil, I replaced that already. In fact I replaced a new one with a new one.

HI there, I would be looking at the electrical connections first. But, did you use ACDelco components?? Allthebest, c4c5 |

HI there, The connections to the coil and the driver are what I am speaking of. Make sure none of the terminals are spread apart and the wiring hasnt rubbed through. Allthebest, c4c5 |

The Code 41 is actually the Electronic Spark Timing, I am guessing that is the unit inside the Opti-spark that picks up the opti signal thru the degree wheel. Is that any test I could do to determine if it is time to change that one out. I assume I would have to buy the entire unit. For future use: is there a recommended place for ECM, CCM, and Opti-spark repair? Since these are the "weak" spots of the car, I might would like to have them all done at once, then I would know how long the parts have been used. | ||||||||||||||||||||
