CM anybody pull Fuse #5 & fuse 20 is for the ENGINE CONTROL MODULE

anybody pull Fuse #5 & fuse 20 is for the ENGINE CONTROL MODULE - MAIN

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the 2010 camaro guys over at camaro5.com are raving about pulling two fuses to reset timing..

they are pulling number 5 and 20. (on the camaro SS)

Fuse #5 is for the ENGINE CONTROL MODULE - MAIN
Fuse #20 is for the ENGINE CONTROL MODULE - IGNITION

leaving it out for 3 hours and raving about the performance improvement..

are fuse number 5 and 20 the same in the corvette LS3 ?

anybody hear about this? or try it on a corvette?

I might have a tank of bad gas and wondering if this would make a quick change? or should I just put in techron fuel additive?

Hi there,
What the are doing is resetting all the LEARNED fuel trims.
Thats why they rave, because the system goes baseline and starts learning from square one.

And then it goes back to normal.

I dont suggest it.
Even if you got bad gas, the ECM will learn around it the next fuel tank and you dont lose the emissions readiness information.
Allthebest, c4c5

thanks for the heads up ..

I figured it didn't make sense but the hundreds of posts on multiple threads is quite facinating..

Seems that the owners of many of the L99's are having an issue...that is resolved by pulling the fuses..

Some with LS3's tried it and found it successful.

I'm assuming the ethanol content is contributing..

thanks again for your perspective.

I used to pretty much do the same thing when I was trailering my C4. The reasoning was that if you last drove your car a week ago at 3,000 feet elevation at 110 degrees, and then a week later towed the car to the coast and ran it at sea level at 75 degrees, the fuel trim would be too lean. Are these guys who are doing this towing their cars?

I think the L99 is extremely sensitive....

Great motor yet I believe GM is careful to error on the side of caution to limit detonation warranty issues?

Could be, but the PCM should retard ignition if it starts sensing knock. Of course, it probably does go overboard to avoid engine damage. But if you're looking for more power, you don't want the leanest possible mixture.

I also remember a procedure that I went through after reconnecting the battery to supposedly put the ECM in the "fast learn mode". The whole idea was to have the car running optimally for the current local conditions. To me, it sounds like this is what they are attempting to do.

some said the battery disconnect didn't work but the fuse pulling did..

I don't know the whole story but some of the owners of the L99 DOD engine....were originally dissatisfied with power levels..until pulling the fuses and letting it sit for 3 hours.. 0vernight..

Just curious if in fact it had any basis for fact...

Thanks again...
