CM Anti-Lock light illuminated

Another issue I have on my 1988 Corvette coupe is an illuminated Anti-Lock light on the forward panel. When I have the fuse pulled and the anti-lock system deactivated brakes work fine with great stopping ability. When I reset the fuse on the fuse panel (pax side on side of dash), I get a metal popping sound which sounds like the left rear caliper. The car still moves but when I back up I get that sound. Also the brake pedal oscillates like the Anti-Lock is cycling or something??? Was wondering if the rear caliper Anti-lock feature was malfunctioning. Did have some black sediment in the master cylinder resevoirs as well. Do I need to bleed the system and replace the LR caliper or is there another solution to this issue? Thanks.

HI there,
If the light is on, you have a diagnostic trouble code and we need to know what kind of code you have.
Please give us more details as to when this started and under what conditions.

CM code????

Bought the car with the Anti-Lock light on. I do not have the J-35890 diagnostic tool and cannot answer that question. Would imagine the problem has manifested itself due to the age of the car (1988). I understand that when rubber lines age they detiorate and contaminate the brake fluid. Would this cause the calipers to lock up and create a code hense the light???

HI there,
No, your light has nothing to do with that. It cannot monitor caliper pressure or anything else.
Look in your service manual and ground the 2 terminals to get your ABS to flash and give you the codes.
It would help us, help you

CM terminals???

What terminals are you referring to? I have heard of at least 6 codes with the 88. Would you mind telling me what they are if what they mean. Only if it is not too involved, otherwise I will jump the terminals, but still need to know which ones. Thanks

Havn't heard back from anyone regarding my question regarding 2 terminals that need grounded. To which terminals and what location are they? Also does anyone know the proper oil pressure readings at idle and in cruise say 55mph? Thanks.
