CM Jacking Up a Corvette (C1-C6)

I have seen so much info on this but nothing from anyone I trust. So, I am looking for the end all to end all information here from my man Paul who knows the answer to this question.

As long as you use the jacking points that are recommended in the owners or service manual, do you have to do anything special to lift any generation of Corvette? I have heard about opening doors on C4's to keeping them closed on C3's. What is the real scoop? Is there any special procedure to lifting any generation of Corvette?

HI there,

No, there is nothing definitive about any special procedure to Corvette lifting.

All owners manuals and FSM use the standard jacking points and lift away.

The reason for the c4 issue was that in convertible form, people realized that if they raised them with the doors open, they couldnt close them.

This is because the c4 doors are structural parts that hold everything solid.

C4 was rushed to market so quickly, there was never enough done for body structure in the convertible form of the car.

Coupe was much better, but convertible suffered.

Follow the lift points in your owners manual.

Allthebest, c4c5

Finally! I shall pass that word with confidence. The only problem now is I have to quit thinking about owning a convertible C4. Rats!

Thanks Paul!

I know, I really like the convertible. The ZR-1's look sweet too but I may shoot for a 96. I like those too!
