CM rebuild questions

OK , my 327/300 '66 engine is machined and put back together . I now have to rebuild the fuel pump or buy a replacement (it has an old replacement now , not an AC) and I need to rebuild the waterpump (also an old replacement ) or buy new a new one . Plus the carb thing I've been chattin about here . OH , and the dipstick TUBE , is it painted at all , orange, black, purple ?
Any help would be GREAT !!

Why not put a replacement Delco fuel pump and water pump in it.They should top it off nicely.Does the motor have the original heads and whats your compression ratio. These things run just fine with the right cam on todays super unleaded
if the timing curve and carb are right.38 degrees total advance should be your target.I have a 396 with 10.25 and a Sean Murphy reworked Qjet that runs great with 38 degrees on pump gas.And she pumps out around 380 hp.Not to shabby for a old antique motor by todays standards

it sounds like what you really need is to join your local ncrs chapter. or, pick up a 66 ncrs judging manual. your dipstick question would be answered in there. my ncrs manual is for a 74 so it wont help you much. if you want your original water pump rebuilt i would recomend art gould in new york. his prices are extremely reasonable and he does quality work. you can ship to him and he will just ship it back to you. once you join ncrs you will also have access to their forum where you will find a wealth of info on doing a correct restoration. ncrs.org is their website.

Thanks guys- I probably will just buy replacements for the waterpump and fuel pump. The rebuild kits cost as much as the whole part .
NCRS was supposed to issue a new version of the '66 judging manual late last year but it hasn't happened yet as far as I know .
