1984, 75K miles, no codes except 12, new stock fuel pump and coolant temp sensor. In Dec. I changed the fuel pump due to the car has 75K on it. It made a huge difference in starting. It fied up instantly! I retired a couple of weeks ago and looked forward to working out in the shop. The car hadn't been started in a couple of weeks but started first crank. As usual I let it warm up and let the fans cycle 3 or 4 times before shutting it down. Two days later when I tried to start it I ended up using starter fluid to get it to start. It took a lot of nursing it along with the starter fluid before it would run on it's own. If I tried to give it some throttle it would back fire through the driver side TBI. I gave up for the day. Next day I changed the battery back to full charge while I put a pressure gauge in the fuel line between the TBIs. With the key ON and cranking the engine I had 13psi and it held that 13psi for an hour that I watched it. I checked to see if I had spark to the plugs with my timing light and I have spark. Plugs are all good with a light brown color. Next I thought I would find some codes but only got code 12. While waiting for the codes to cycle I could hear something making an intermittant sound at the TBI area. I suspected the idle air control and when I unplugged them it stopped. TBIs will not let fuel through.

Hi there, Your fuel pressure is very good. Your next course of action is to determine if you have spark. If you DO, that means that your injectors or PCM may have a problem. You see, the pulse from the distributor pick up coil fires both the ignition coil and SENDS the signal to the ECM to fire the injectors. Take a resistance test of the fuel injectors individually and let us know what you have. Allthebest, c4c5 |

| I checked the injectors and they show 1.4 ohns for the front one and 1.3 for the rear one. I went back and checked for spark with a spark gap tool and have no spark. Checked the pink wire to the distributor with key in ON and START positions and do not have voltage. (12.3V) at battery.

Hi there, Ok, then thats great. Your lack of battery power is telling you that you need to trace that circuit. Once I get to work, I will check the schematics and post up. Allthebest, c4c5 |
