I have a 1990 Convertible corvette with aprox 50'000 miles. It has developed a small small oil drip that appears to be coming from the rear of the engine. It is about the size of a penny on the floor after being left for a few days. I have read on here that it could be the rear main seal, oil switch or some other things. CAn someone help me diagnose the problem a little better. It is not that easy to see exactly where the oil is leaking from. If it is the rear main seal, does the engine have to come out. Does the transmission have to come out? any pointers on making this change would be great help. Thanks

Your 90 model uses a one peice seal. They cost around 30.00. The tranny must come out to replace. Before you do that, check your pan gasket, oil pressure sender, intake gaskets and valve cover gaskets.Sometimes when these items leak they can cause the oil to run down the back of the block, and from the bottom could look like a rear main seal leak. Get a teloscopic mirror and flashlight to diagnose the problem. I hope this helps..
