Question 1997 Shop Manual; which one????

I'm in the market for a service manual for my newly acquired vette...been on ebay and found several vendors who offer what appears to be two different sets for sale. They are used editions but one set comes with a white cover and says Preliminary while the other set has red covers. They are both 3 manual sets covering all aspects of the car. I've asked the seller and he doesn't know or won't say what the difference, if any, is between the sets. Can one of our members shed a little light on the differing versions and which version should I concentrate on...they're asking $29. plus shipping. Thanks for your advice...

Hi there,
DO NOT USE THE PRELIMINARY MANUALS, in the white covers.
And actually, you need the 4 manual set.
The 97 manuals were red and 3 at the first publishing.
A 4th UPDATE manual for engine diagnostics and other issues is needed.
Make sure you get all 4
The 4th manual is numbered UPD on the cover.
Allthebest,

C4C5, You came to the rescue, again. Thanks for that heads up on the manual issue. Didn't know about the 4th manual. Don't know if any of those for sale through ebay had all 4...I'll check again. Appreciate you...have a wonderful week...

Like C4C5 said stay away from the white covered!

I too have seen people selling the Prelim manuals and the sellers state they are the real thing. The covers state Prelim for a reason! Those manuals may not have correct torque spec, pics and procedures. I know, I used to write them for GM; Small Car and Camaro & firebird HVAC.

My genuine GM 1998 set, is a two set...

Now go play with your tools!

1998 6-speed Coupe. Z06 exhaust, Z06 sway bars, C6 Z06 Shifter, LS6 Intake Manifold, K&N FIPK, Vararam Velocity Stack, stainless steel brake lines, Borla X pipe, Z06 shocks. SAE Dyno Numbers 330 RWHP/340 RWTQ
