CM Early C4 Tire choices limited

Looks like it's down to just Goodrich and Falken making 255/50/16 tires for the 100,000 or so pre-'87 C4 owners to choose.

Anyone have any opinions? I don't drive that hard--or much, and this will be the second set I've had to buy for no other reason than rubber cracking issue.

Hey Chuck, I have the G-Force goodrich on mine. They are smooth riding and very quite. It's my opinion that falkens are weak in the shoulder and prone to cornering wear. I've been very happy with the new tires I have. Hope this helps..

Thanks. Think I'll wait for the ubiquitous Costco $60 off sale that comes up ever other month.

Right now, Tire Rack, Sam's Costco, and Discount tire are within $10--$630 out the door for all four BFGs

Paul, check out the selections. It really is down to maybe three. No Goodyear, Michelin, Pirelli, etc. Falken, Goodrich, and Yokos are it in 255/50/16--and even those are all special order!

You could do a wheel upgrade to a more popular size. There are a ton of options in the 17 inch.

Really? What did you buy? That seems awful high.

Yeah Mike, you're right but nothing I've seen in 17" looks "factory" on the two-tone Bronze and I'm trying to keep it as original as possible. It's a very "time capsule" kind of color & I want to keep it very 1985-like.

I did see some NOS unmounted Gatorbacks--still with stickers, on eBay some months ago, but this one's a driver and even though they didn't even sell at the $450 listed, I'd feel bad not leaving them for a Concours guy to buy.

Looks like BFG G-Force is the choice.

They're $111 apiece installed at Costco and word is, the $70 per set instant rebate starts again May 11.
