C4 Seat Belt Issue

Hello -

The seat belts on my C4 need to be repaired or replaced. I know about the recall and GM is telling me replacement parts are not available. Currently I'm waiting for a response from their escallation team. But, I found a company in FL that claims they can repair the retractor mechanism. I just don't know how to remove the seatbelt & retractor assembly.

The retractor assembly adjacent to the seat is enclosed in a plastic housing. I see no screws holding that assembly together. My quesiton is - does anyone have directions on how to remove the seatbelts from a 1988C4? Do I need to remove that plastic enclosure, the seats, etc?

Any help would be appreciated!!

Hi there,

Take the seats out, peel back carpeting and you will be just fine.

Replace them and no other problems otherwise.
