I plan on changing the fuel injection to a carb setupon my 1984 Corvette. I KNOW YOU THINK I SHOULD KEEP THE INJECTION. I plan to rebuild the fuel injection while still driving the car, parts are expensive and I have everything already to chang out to a caburetor. So I plan on doing the transplant without damaging any existing wiring or brackets. I think I have all the parts lined up for the transplant, but I have a few questions. The cable for the lock up on the converter has to be reinstalled on the carb linkage,I need to replace the distributor with a vac advance HEI with a tach connection to run the gauge. Also a fuel regulator to lower the pressure to 6 PSI, and I need to run a wire from the ignition switch to the fuel pump relay so it turns on right away and keeps running. I believe that presently the relay turns on to put pressure to the system, and once the engine is running the relay renergizes again. I have a Edlebrock performer low rise manifold with a 600 cfm carb also from Edlebrock. Also I will use a 2" low profile air cleaner so everything tucks under the hood. I plan to keep all the smog equipment hooked up and working also. Am I missing anything? Do I need to fake out any sensors? Thanks

That cable (TV) adjusts and controls the internal line presure, not lock-up. As for the TV cable. Danger, Dont drive it without the TV cable connected and adjusted properly!!! If you do, you will waste your 3rd gear band and it will happen withen 1/4 mile of your first drive. There are many trans suppliers that sell the linkage conversion kits for the 700R4. Just type "700R4 TV Cable" into your internet search engine. You will find all the info you need to do it right. As far as the rest of your questions... I don't meen to be preechey but, your giong to throw alot of time and money into that project and your net rewards will be,less power and more headaches. I know the crossfires had there issues. Thats nothing when compared to the issues you will create. Hope this helps.. | ||||||||||||||||||||

Hi there, #1, the computer system can be disconnected. Simply disconnect the computer. #2, you can save alot of issues, by simply installing an OEM carb, dist and intake from say a 1980 Corvette and then set up the engine as such. Plus the fact that you would have all the bracketry for the transmission cable as well. And you can get a 1980 throttle cable that works correctly. #3, Accel or Carter makes an electric fuel pump that will restrict the pressure to 1-3 psi and can be added without worry about the integral pump in the tank.
