CM C6 Grand Sport Advice

I recently purchased a 2010 C6 Grand Sport convertible and I'm enjoying this Corvette immensely. However I have some questions.
1 - What brake pads can be installed to reduce the brake dust. Does GM have low dust pads for the Grand Sport? The GS has about 1500 miles. Can I just change the pads without changing the pins? The Hawk ceramic brake pads I inquired about do not come with the pins.
2 - The low body seam from the rear of the doors to the rear wheel well collects small stones. How can the stones be removed? Is their any way of eliminating the collection of these stones?
Thanks for any advice you can provide.

Hi there,

ACDelco makes pads and pins to reduce dust.

NEVER change pads and NOT change the pins.

The rocks are a pain, but loosen the panel screws and that should allow them to drop out.

Does anyone have a part number for the AC Delco GS low dust brake pads? The Chevy dealer I asked said only the original equipment pads were available.
Where are the panel screws located? Are they in the wheel well or on the botton of the rocker panel?
Thanks for the quick reply

Welcome to the "Z06 world" of brake dust! I can't help you regarding brake pad(lets) as I still use the OEM's.

In regards to the stone/sand collectors, There is a 8mm screw on the rocker, underneath, just forward of the tire. Remove that and pull the panel slightly towards you, blow compressed air into the slot made @ the wheel arch (Cover you eyes!)
Once empty of gravel, use black duck tape to cover the gap in the wheel arch to reduce future "stonage."

I did it 4 years ago and it really helps.

I suppose you could stick foam in the gaps for the prevention of rocks.

Now go play with your tools!

I get rocks on my c5z same place. Just the correct size for tiny rocks. I never bothered, but I was thinking if you ran a small bead of clear silicone sealer in the gap it would keep the rocks out. You could always peel it out if you did not like it.

You could also cover the gap with clear helicopter tape or that 3m invisible bra stuff some put on the nose.

I have the tape on my mirrors & it does not look TOO bad unless you get up close & are a real perfectionist.

Would you please elaborate some on never changing brake pads without changing pins? I am a senior backyard mechanic and this is the first time I have ever heard this mentioned. Have been changing pads for 30+ years and I do not recall any instructions mentioning this. I do not have your background , not even close, so please remember I am just inquiring. Thanks

The part # I have are for GM ceramics Front 88909667, Rear 88909668. I got this information at www.gmpartshouse.com. Phone 484-949-2099 0900-1700 EST. Good luck
PS- Sorry I may have given you part numbers for my 2008 Z-51 pads which I think are different size. But maybe that site can help you further.

I usually wash the car and take a credit card to that seam to dislodge the small easy to remove stone...

Congrats on the new car...and realize ....that the brake pads might diminish dusting after a few more miles..

I would like to thank everyone for the helpful information. I sealed the gap between the inner and outer rear fenders with duct tape and foam. Hope this stops the stones. I will contact gm parts direct to inquire about low dust brake pads. Thanks to everyone again.
