No the pins and the BCM are real clean. I can send you pictures. I ask the parts guys at the local Chevy dealer if there was any kind of cleaner and or conductor spray that could be used. They said no. I did notice on the screen of parts on their PC a replacement for the blue hood that is I guess the clamp that holds the connector to the BCM. I was going try that even though it does seem to fit tight.

Hi there,

So then, what is happening is that when you disconnect and reconnect the BCM, you are resetting it.

My first suggestion, is to check to see if there are any reprogramming updates, but that will cost an hours labor.

Its either that OR replacement of the BCM.

Your post you said “you are resetting it.” Are you implying this act might cause some loss of the programming in the BCM? If so I would have to answer no. All the modules seem to work fine after it is reconnected. It’s not a daily driver but it has been months since the last time it acted up and I haven’t found anything not to work. I understand that if replaced the BCM needs to be programmed. What involved and can you estimate the number of hours it should take? Can the current program be exported and uploaded to the new BCM?

When you remove power from the BCM, you are starting from scratch.

Normally, there are differences in programming that can effectively lock it up and it stops working.

When you remove power from it, you stop its function complete, so it has to start from square one.

1 hour to program a BCM. No, its all uploaded from GM

Interesting I’ve only unplugged one side at a time that might account for it still operating after resetting one side. That is if I assume it is powered by the blue connectors?

Hopefully this will be my last update on this issue. It died on me in traffic last Saturday. Not in a good place no shoulder to pull off on and no hazarded lights and lots of cars behind me. I did my above mentioned trick and the car started and I was moving again. I decided to take you advises and find another dealer. This time the experience was better the service writer was open to my suggestion to check it for codes. What he found, and in his words “we found about 40 U codes and one hard code”. He thought the U codes were tripped when I unplugged and re-plugged in the BCM. The hard code was the brake positioning switch. They replaced the switch and cleared the codes. He also said the BCM was up to date so it didn’t need to be flashed. He advised that if this didn’t fix the problem he would replace the BCM. Possibility at no charge! I’m driving it daily so this should be a good test to see if this fixed it…
C4c5 thanks for your all your help!
