I have a 2009 C6 coupe (AT, Z51) with 8100 miles (no modifications). I have had no problems with the car, except that it is noisy inside. There seems to be a stress/strain noise coming from the top or truck lid. It is not a rattle, but more like a pop, cracking sound. The dealer said it was normal and that my car was not that bad. Any ideas on what is causing the noise and how to stop it?

HI there, Corvette doesnt make noises like that, nor is it normal. You would be wise to check the latch assembly and the rubber bumpers for the lid. Lubricate the latch assembly with some WD40 and check the rubber bumper with some silicone paste. Reevaluate the condition afterwards. Allthebest, c4c5 |

Sometime in 2009 GM redesigned the latches. The new latches do not have rollers that slide over the retainers when closing. Instead, the rollers were replaced with a flat tab that slide on the retainer. If you have the older roller latches, there is a TSB for replacing them with the new ones. Option 2, lubing the rollers, pins and retainers with dielectric grease helps to silence them. I have the older roller version latches and I installed an e-clip between the roller to immobilize the rollers. I also applied dielectric grease on the rollers, pins and retainers. No more creaking/popping top.
