I have a 1993 coupe w/AT, all stock with 115K miles on it. A few weeks ago the car starts free wheeling if I let off the gas and either down shift to the next lowest gear or touch the brake. I took it to the transmission shop and a couple of hundred later he tells me he has never seen this problem before with all 4 gears. There is a coast clutch for each gear and they never all go out at the same time. He tells me I can drive it like it is or do a complete tear down. Is there a brake switch or computer problem that might be causing this? Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Hi there, Actually, more details would be needed here. If you do go into manual 3 / 2 / 1, do you get engine compression braking???? #1, the overrun clutch is ONLY IN 1 and 2 and 3, YOU DO NOT get it in 4th, so my first instinct is find another transmission shop. #2, how is the fluid level and is it foamy or look like peptobismol ???
