Hi Paul,

Your quote above and some additional information I have received about the test units might explain the problem.

There are 23 non-Nav test PALs in owners hands. 19 are installed in cars with XM and are working with some minor firmware issues. The remaining 4 are installed in non-XM cars and are not working.

I only have information for 2 of the non-XM units and they both behave the same. They power on/off with the Start/Stop button or door/trunk open/close. However, they do not indicate XM1/XM2 on the US9 radio and thus do not function as a PAL.

I suspect that XM is turned off in the BCM and/or XM is disabled in the US9 radio.

Does the Tech 2 allow you to view the current setting of the XM enable in the BCM or just change it's current state?

Do you know if there is a setting under the US9 radio to enable/disable the XM option?

If the Class 2 "Wake" and "Sleep" commands are global to all devices (not device address specific), that would explain why the PAL powers on/off.

The answers to the above might provide the owner with enough information to go back to the dealer and advise what needs to be done to enable the PAL.

There still might be an issue with setting the no XM software switch in the PAL since the current Tech 2 software only allows for this in a NAV car. If that is an issue, updated Tech 2 software will be needed.

Thanks again for all of your help,
John

Thats my thought process, turn on the XM in the BCM and then all of a sudden, they work.

It wasnt my thought to disable on the XM equipped, it was to turn ON the XM and have it function.

We are on the same wavelength. When you look at the Tech 2 BCM setting, does it display enabled/disabled on the Tech 2 or can you only set/clear it blindly. It would be nice if he could go to the dealer and have them read the current state so we know what it was and then force XM to be enabled and see if things "magically" work.

Do you know if there is also an XM enable/disable setting under the US9 radio?

I will check on the above and post results sometime next week, as I will not have a c6 here until Monday.

Have you had a chance to check this out on a C6?

It seems that there is also a setting in the US8 & US9 radio to enable the XM radios. I am still trying to obtain more information on this setting. I am not sure if it can be changed it with a Tech II.
