Hello all. It was suggested I come to this site to get help with the problem I am having with my 07 electric vert top. I was told c4c5specialist rocks when it comes to advice. I bought the car 9 months ago. The previous owner may have traded the car in because of this problem because he had it "repaired" at his dealer about a month before he traded it in. My dealer had the car 3 days this week while the part was being ordered. When I got the car home, the problem persisted. The problem. When lowering the top, it will go down, but the toneau cover will not close. It just stays up in the air. When this happens, the top will not go back up. As per the owners manual, I release the hydralic pressue with the supplied allen wrench and pull the top up a little and then I can use the electric up button to put it back up. After doing this, sometimes the top will work as it should and the toneau cover will close. If I put the top back up and drive the car, most of the time I am back to square one with it not working again. The previous dealer replaced the latch assembly, aligned the toneau cover, lubed the latch & striker, and replaced switch # 19120624. My dealer just replaced a switch #19120624. I live in a small town (pop 100k) and there are no top speciality shops that can help. I suspect the 2 dealers that have worked on the car have not seen this problem before, making the repair more difficult. I am open to all suggestions at this point. Thank you for you time. Hi there, Its unfortunately very tough to diagnose without an accurate data list from the folding top control module. After looking at your warranty history, there are a few things I would validate. Are you solenoids being actuated in the correct sequence?? Do ALL your top position switches work ???? My guess is that the position switch for the actual assembly is a bit off. The data would be key and there is no way to see it without a Tech 2. I will research further and will post later today. Allthebest, c4c5 |

Let me thank you again for your help. This problem is intermittent with it not working correctly more than working right. Last night it worked fine, but if I drive it to the dealer, odds are it will not work when I get there. I do have a couple of questions. Is a Tech 2 a scan of the computers? Would scanning show what the problem might be? Could the problem involve the BCM or the ECM? Thanks. | ||||||||||||||||||||

Hi there, The folding top control module is stand alone and relies on some data from the BCM. The key is when it stops, and yes, a Tech 2 will look at all the data and tell you what switch is in what position and if there is a reason for the system to stop movement. Im really looking at the switches and position of the top, compared to a BCM issue. The PCM will not have any bearing on the movement of the top unless you are MOVING with the Ebrake off.
